The Beauty of Starting Small 🌱
When we think of awakening or growth, it’s tempting to imagine big, dramatic changes—major life shifts, bold decisions, or grand spiritual breakthroughs. But Scripture reminds us that often, God works through the small, steady beginnings.
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.”
— Zechariah 4:10 (NLT)
God’s Joy in the Little Things
The Lord doesn’t wait until we’ve “arrived” to delight in us. He rejoices in each small step—every whispered prayer, every kind word, every decision to turn our hearts toward Him. Just as a gardener celebrates the first sprout pushing through the soil, God celebrates the little awakenings in our lives.
Awakening Is a Process
Awakening doesn’t happen overnight. It unfolds slowly, like buds opening on a tree. Some days we notice growth; other days it seems hidden. But underneath, God is always at work.
Think of the mustard seed in Matthew 13:31–32. It starts as the smallest of seeds, yet grows into a tree where birds can rest. Our smallest acts of faith, trust, or love can grow into something far greater than we imagine.
Reflection for Today
🌼 Where in your life do you feel pressure to “arrive” quickly?
🌼 What is one small step you can take this week toward awakening—whether in prayer, gratitude, service, or simply resting in God’s love?
Remember: the Lord rejoices not just in the finished work, but in the beginning.
✨ May this April remind you that awakening is less about big leaps and more about faithful little steps. Your smallest beginnings matter, because God delights in them.
